She served as Director of ARC UI and Associate Professor at the Department of Communication, University of Indonesia. Her research is grounded in cultural political economy, focusing on media and communications, knowledge production, and information systems in relation to broader capitalist transformations and democratic developments. Her work also examines the role of social and mass media in shaping—and at times constraining—democratic processes, with comparative research spanning Indonesia, India, Egypt, and Turkey.

Suraya Afiff memperoleh gelar doktor dalam bidang studi interdisiplin Environmental Science, Policy, and Management dari University of California, Berkeley, adalah dosen tetap departemen antropologi FISIP UI, selain juga menjabat sebagai ketua umum Asosiasi Antropologi Indonesia (AAI) untuk periode kepengurusan 2021 - 2026. Seluruh risetnya menggunakan pendekatan ekologi politik untuk memahami berbagai persoalan terkait dengan relasi manusia dengan lingkungannya. Fokus risetnya mencakup sejumlah isu seperti masalah ketimpangan akses dan kontrol atas lahan dan sumber sumber alam, pembangunan, REDD, serta gerakan agraria dan lingkungan di Indonesia. Penelitian yang saat ini sedang berlangsung antara lain mencakup topik-topik hubungan migrasi dan perkebunan, reforma agraria dan perhutanan sosial, penanganan konflik agraria, pengelolaan gambut dan kebakaran hutan, dan dampak sosial dari proyek pembangunan.

She is Co-Director of Academic Praxis and Cluster Leader at ARC UI. She also serves as lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Indonesia. She has years of experience researching and writing about groups of people who experience socio, political and economic marginalisation. Her doctoral thesis is on the expansion of precarious work tied to the gig economy and its effects on workers’ identity formation and organising propensity in Indonesia. Since then, she has been involved in researches that trace the link between increasing precarity and political identity among labourers across different sectors. She has also recently engaged in research that links climate change with livelihood and labour issues.

Dr. Evi Eliyanah is an Associate Professor in Gender Studies at the Department of English, Universitas Negeri Malang. She is also a member of the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences.
Her research focuses on gender equality, social inclusion, and socio-cultural transformations in Indonesia. She adopts an interdisciplinary approach to examine how gender is shaped across education, media, and broader social structures. Her current work includes Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in film education, higher education, and research ecosystems, as well as studies on marriage patterns, social change, and representations of gender in Indonesian popular culture.
Through her work, she contributes to both academic scholarship and policy-relevant discussions, particularly in advancing inclusive approaches within education and knowledge production in Indonesia.
Endah Triastuti menerima gelar PhD dari University of Wollongong, NSW Australia. Ia kini menjadi dosen di Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Indonesia sejak 2009. Minat penelitiannya adalah antropologi media, etnografi digital, serta media dan minoritas.
